NSW reports 8 new local cases and 4 new overseas cases

Of the twelve new cases to 8pm last night:
Four are returned overseas travellers in hotel quarantine
One is locally acquired and under investigation
Seven are locally acquired and linked to a known case or cluster (three of which were mentioned yesterday).
FYI: It was confirmed in the presser this morning that the 48 hr contract tracing rule has not been agreed on in discussions between QLD and NSW premiers. From the three reported yesterday, they are all linked to one another. A household contact of the man in his 50's is a coworker of the woman in her 50's. The other case is linked to the Liverpool Hospital cluster. So far NSW believe that an asymptomatic Liverpool hospital HCW hosted an event in their home. From this, 2 others became infected, and their household. -- One new case reported today was locally acquired, is likely to have been infected some days ago and appears linked to the Liverpool Hospital Dialysis cluster. Four more cases are close contacts of this case. One new case is locally acquired whose source is under investigation. The remaining two cases today are close contacts of this case. A known case travelled on a train on Saturday, 3 October that left Parramatta station at 7:13pm and arrived at Milsons Point station at 8:04pm. Anyone who caught the train at this time is considered a casual contact and must monitor for symptoms and get tested immediately if they develop. After testing, they must remain in isolation until a negative test result is received.
Last updated 11:20 AM [08/10] The below graph maps the number of tests per day and number of new cases per day, since 06/09 to current. The red line shows the NSW aim of conducting ≥ 8,000 COVID-19 tests per day. "New cases" plots the aggregate number of cases across all sources (i.e., overseas, interstate and local). In the coming days, I plan to break this down by source type, as well as to add data from the 01/09. Click on image or this caption to view/enlarge table.
